Pursuit of Perfection Week 12-Sarah Lindamood

Sarah Lindamood

Sarah Lindamood from Douglas S. Freeman High School is the week 12 nominee for Lexus of Richmond’s Pursuit of Perfection Leadership Award. With a GPA of 4.9, Sarah excels in her academics. She is a member of many national honors societies and other academic clubs at Douglas S. Freeman high school. Varsity Field Hockey is her primary sport, and she is also the Varsity Field Hockey Captain.

She makes many impacts on the community with her volunteer work. This past summer she interned with HandsOn Greater Richmond, and has worked on several Youth Philanthropy Projects through that program. She also tutors students at her high school and volunteers at the Children’s museum.

Pursuit of Perfection Week 11-Boyd Peete

Boyd Peete from St. Christopher’s School is the Week 11 nominee for Lexus of Richmond’s Pursuit of Perfection Leadership award. He is the captain of the Varsity Golf team at St. Christopher’s, and this year he was the Champion of the High School Invitational that took place at Independence Golf Club in August 2015.

His extra-curriculars include being an Eagle Scout, and being a part of Middle School Mentors, The Philosophy Club, and Saints for Environmental Awareness. He also had the opportunity to work with a program called Wine to Water, which is an organization that raises funds to supply safe water to impoverished areas of the world. Outside of school, he is very involved in his church and he volunteers with Project Homes and with the Annual Monument Ave. 10K. He looks forward to continuing golf in college.

Pursuit of Perfection Week 10-Shanthi Hiremath

 

Shanthi Hiramath

Shanthi Hiremath from Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School is the week 10 nominee for Lexus of Richmond’s Pursuit of Perfection Leadership Award. She participates in Cross Country and Track and Field at Maggie Walker, and holds several school records for her efforts in triple jump, pole vault and many others. Other than sports, she also participates in many extra-curriculars including being the Co-Director and Choreographer for the Richmond Olympiad Gymnastics Club (End of Year team), Student Health Organization, and Student Council Organization.

Shanthi volunteers at many places around the Richmond area. This includes the Richmond Animal League Sunday Cat Crew, where she assists with administering medications and cleaning the cat cages and shelters. She is also involved with the Maymont Foundation Visitor’s Center, SportsBackers, and Connor’s Heroes, an organization that creates birthday cards for children with cancer.

Pursuit of Perfection Week 9-Jeb Bemiss

Lexus of Richmond’s Pursuit of Perfection Leadership Award week 9 nominee is Jeb Bemiss from St. Christopher’s School. Jeb is a senior and is the captain of both the Varsity Football and Varsity Baseball teams. He also ties his sports into one of his biggest community service projects: River City Buddy Ball, a project in which he and his teammates help children with disabilities play sports. He also does volunteer tutoring for elementary-aged kids.

His other extra-curriculars include being the Vice President of the Student Council, and being a member of the RAMPS (Ramp Access Made Possible by Students) and FOCUS (Fellowship of Christians in Universities and Schools). Jeb also stands out with his academics, and has been awarded High Honors for grades 9-11 and is an AP Scholar with Distinction. He is committed to attend Cornell University and play Baseball in 2016.

Pursuit of Perfection Week 8-Catherine DeVoe

Lexus Of Richmond’s Pursuit of Perfection Leadership Award Week 8 nominee is Catherine DeVoe from Collegiate School. She excels in her academics, and is in the Cum Laude Society (Top 10%) at her school. Her academics have been rewarded with the Jefferson Book Award, the Academic All American Award and the AP Scholar with Honor Award.

With a passion for international relations and outreach, she has participated in travel abroad programs like the Leadership Conference at Lebone II School in South Africa, the sister school to Collegiate. She has also participated in the International Emerging Leaders Program as the Junior and Senior Ambassador.

For athletics, she is the Senior Captain for Collegiate’s Varsity Field Hockey and Varsity Lacrosse teams. She is also trying out a new sport this year, Varsity Track.

Pursuit of Perfection Week 7-Taylor Rice

Lexus of Richmond’s Week 7 nominee for the Pursuit of Perfection Leadership Award is Taylor Rice from Monacan High School. She is a Senior and has many examples of her academic achievements. Those include being in organizations like the National Honors Society, French Honors Society, and receiving awards like the West Point Leadership Award, and the Science Award for Biology. She has also received the President’s Award for Educational Achievement.

Her extra-curriculars include being the Vice President of the Student Government Association, and being in many clubs like the BETA Club, Ecology Club, and French Club, among many others. Her top sports are field hockey and lacrosse, and she is the Captain of both of those varsity teams at Monacan High School. She also volunteers with elementary school children on a regular basis, Maymont Park Cleanup, and she volunteers at the Johnston-Willis Hospital in the Cancer Center.

Pursuit of Perfection Week 6-David Qin

Lexus of Richmond’s Week 6 Nominee is David Qin, a Senior from Godwin High School. At Godwin High School he participates in Golf, and is the Captain of the Varsity Golf Team. He is also an excellent scholar, and has many awards like the 2015 AP Scholar with Distinction Award. Along with his academics, he also participates in many extra-curriculars. Some of those include the Debate Team, Beta club, Math Modeling Club, Model United Nations, and the Aeronautics Space Association, to name a few.

He participates in many community services around the Richmond area, with a big focus on Root4STEM, which introduces STEM programs to children at the Boys & Girls Club of Metro Richmond. He also participates with Lamb’s Basket, and is a coach for the Godwin High School Summer Basketball Camp, and the Godwin Chess Camp.

Pursuit of Perfection Week 5-Anna Ransone

 

Lexus of Richmond’s week 5 nominee for the Pursuit of Perfection Scholarship Award is Anna Ransone, a Senior at Blessed Sacrament Huguenot Catholic School. She is an outstanding scholar, and is enrolled in many AP and College Dual Enrollment courses. She is also a member of the National Honors Society (Vice President)  and the National Spanish Honors Society (President). For her other extra-curriculars, she is a student ambassador, participates in the Athletes for Athletes Association, and is a member of many other clubs, including the Drama club, Spanish Club, and Model United Nations. As the Vice President and Secretary of her class, she is also very involved in her Student Government Association.

Anna also has a lot of involvement in sports. She is the current Captain of her school’s volleyball team, swim team, and she participates in competitive tennis. She is hoping to become a nurse, after her positive experiences volunteering at the Bon Secours, St. Francis ER. Anna also volunteers with Angel Tree, Backpacks for Love, Stop Hunger Now, and many other organizations, and really enjoys being involved in her community.

Pursuit of Perfection Week 4-Michael Benos

Lexus of Richmond’s Pursuit of Perfection Award continues into its fourth week, and this week’s nominee is Michael Benos from the Maggie Walker Governor’s School. Because of his 4.54 GPA, he is a member of the National Honors Society,  as well as the Spanish, English, Science and Math Honors Societies. His primary sport is tennis, in which he is the Co-Captain for the varsity team at Maggie Walker. He also plays recreational soccer, and enjoys being in the Ultimate Frisbee Club. His other extra-curriculars include being a Virginia Aerospace and Technology Scholar, a Mission Manager and Peer Mentor, and a Virginia Space Coast Scholar. He is also very involved in the Forensics Team, Model Congress, and Spanish Club. He hopes to attend MIT, the University of Virginia, and many other prestigious schools.

His outreach into the community involves mentoring many groups of high-school students. He founded the Hispanic Outreach and Language Assistance Club (HOLA), and he works with and mentors a First Lego League at schools in the Richmond area. He is also a Robotics Team Class Mentor, for the Math Science Innovation Center.

Pursuit of Perfection Week 3-Seeley Yoo

Seeley Yoo- Week 3 Nominee

Lexus of Richmond’s Pursuit of Perfection award goes out to outstanding students in their senior year of high school. This week’s nominee is Seeley Yoo from St. Catherine’s. With a 4.5 GPA she excels in academics. Because of her GPA she is a member of the Cum Laude Society, is a National Merit Scholar, and has made it on the Head’s List for every term. She has even been awarded with the Wellesley College Book Award, and is an AP Scholar with Distinction.

Her primary sport is soccer, and she is committed to Davidson College in North Carolina to participate in soccer there. Until then, she is finishing her senior year as the Captain of the Varsity Soccer Team at St. Catherine’s and continues to participate in Club Soccer, as well as the Olympic Development Program. During her time in those sport organizations, she has achieved the honors necessary to compete in soccer nationally. Outside of school, her community service includes volunteering for the U4 Richmond Strikers Program, the Special Olympics, the Richmond Kickers Camp, and she even participated in a mission trip to Tanzania.
