Finn Schoyen I can see some interesting beinfets to using LCD backgrounds, that could reduce production costs because you don’t need to make multiple gauge scales:1) Different engine configurations of a vehicle have different top speeds. Having the needle going not too much further than the top speed of a vehicle in a given configuration would provide easier reading2) No need for different part numbers for a dash depending on what country it’s destined for. Scales and measurement units are taken from software. Tie this in with GPS as well, and the measurement units can change based on the country where the vehicle is located.(Handy when crossing the border between United Kingdom, where speed is measured in MPH, and Republic of Ireland, where speed is measured in KM/H.3) No need for different part numbers for petrol and diesel dash clusters, because the rev counter scale can be programmed to one or the other when the car is built (diesel engines generally tend to run lower revs than petrol engines).
