Lexus of Richmond Leadership Award Week 14 – Justin Jasper


Lexus of Richmond’s week 14 nominee for the Leadership Award is Justin Jasper of St. Christopher’s School. Having a current 4.2 GPA, he has received high honors every semester of high school. Justin is an AP Scholar, and he scored a 33 out of a possible 36 on ACT exam. At the end of junior year, he was awarded the Washington and Lee University Book Award. He received the Horace A. Gray Scholarship for possessing high character, academic and athletic ability, and commitment to extracurricular activities. Justin also received the McGuire Wilkinson Scholarship from St. Christopher’s for best exemplifying Christian character, gentlemanly conduct and scholarly attainment.

A three year member of St. Chris’ Varsity Football team, Justin was a captain for his senior season as a wide receiver. Recently, he committed to football for the University of Richmond. For his sophomore and junior efforts, he was named to the first team all-prep. As a junior Justin was also named to the second team all state and was selected as the all metro honorable mention. He also is a 4 year member of the Varsity Basketball team. Playing as a wing, Justin is a two year captain of the team. For the 2015/16 season he was named to the first team all prep. Additionally, Justin played JV lacrosse as a freshman and returned to the sport as a senior on the Varsity team.

When not on the field or court, Justin keeps busy at St. Chris in multiple groups and organizations. He, along with a group of junior and seniors, is a peer advisor to freshmen as they enter upper school.  Justin is also an admissions ambassador which allows him to provide tours to potential parents and students on campus, and he was selected to deliver the keynote address at admission open houses. Through a volunteer program, Chamberlayne to McVey, Justin works with kindergarten students by teaching leadership and character skills as well as helping out in the classroom and building relationships with the children. He was also selected to attend Harold M. Marsh Sr. Connections Institute to learn how to handle prejudice and social injustice in schools as well as how to implement change in his school.

One to spend his time giving back, Justin has been involved in St. Chris’ Missionary Society where he is currently the President. This group carries out chapel services, organizes guest speakers, and create community service projects and fundraisers. He is also involved in RAMPS (Ramp Access Made Possible by Students) where they raise money and then build wheelchair ramps for those who can’t afford them. Justin has spent time with the group 100 for 100. The goal is to raise money then give 100 underprivileged children $100 each to spend at Dicks Sporting Goods for Christmas. The students involved will go shopping with the children and then host a party for them.

Justin has won a dinner for two and is now in the running for the $10,000 scholarship.
