Lexus of Richmond Leadership Award Week 23 – Courtney Rosser


Courtney Rosser of Hanover High School is Lexus of Richmond’s week 23 nominee for the Leadership Award Scholarship. As a part of her graduating class’ top 10, she has a current 4.65 GPA and has been in the National Honor Society since 2016. For her senior year, Courtney has held the position of Events Chair in the NHS where she organizes fundraisers and events for the group. She is a member of the Beta Club, and is a Hanover Scholar as she has maintained a 4.0 throughout high school. In 2017 Courtney received the West Point Society of Richmond Leadership Award for excellent performance in academics, athletics, community service and leadership.

As a four year member of Hanover’s Varsity Soccer team, Courtney plays defensive midfield and center defense, and she is the captain for her senior season. In 2017 she received the Defensive Player of the Year Award from Hanover. In 2016 and 2017 she was named to the 1st Team All Conference. In 2016 she was selected for the 2nd Team All Region. During both her junior and senior years, Courtney additionally played for the Richmond Kickers Elite Soccer Team, and in 2017 the team won the Women and Girls in Soccer Championship. Courtney additionally runs indoor track where she qualified for States in the 4x800m and the 2 mile. On the cross country team, she was a Regional and State runner for the 5k.

Since 2015, Courtney has been a part of the Student Organization for Developing Attitudes (SODA). Through this organization she prepared lesson plans for 4th graders and worked to help these students make positive choices in life and better their community. She has also been involved in Teachers for Tomorrow. As a Teacher Cadet, Courtney worked in a 2nd grade classroom to prepare and then teach lesson plans.

During her time in her Church Youth Group, Courtney has participated in mission trips to Lynchburg and Alabama. During these two trips she spent time scrapping paint off of houses and repainting, trimming rose bushes, cutting grass and weeding gardens. Courtney has volunteered for her high school by setting up for prom and helping in the concession stand during basketball games. She has also been involved with other organizations like Habitat for Humanity and Rise Against Hunger.

Courtney has won a dinner for two and is now in the running for the $10,000 scholarship.
