Lexus of Richmond’s 24th Leadership Award Week 27 – Devin Hux


Lexus of Richmond’s 27th weekly nominee for the Leadership Award Scholarship is Devin Hux of The Math and Science High School at Clover Hill. Having a current 4.28 GPA, Devin is a member of the National Honor Society, National Spanish HonorSociety, National English Honor Society, National History Honor Society, National Art Honor Society, and Mu Alpha Theta. She has received the Clover Hill Green and Gold Award for being a well rounded student and striving for excellence. Devin is industry certified in Autodesk Inventor Pro Software. She was selected to participate in C-Tech^2 at Virginia Tech. This two week program for junior and senior girls allows them to complete in an engineering design competition. Additionally Devin is a Virginia Aerospace Science and Technology Scholar through NASA.

Outside the classroom Devin is a member of numerous groups at Clover Hill. She is 4 year member of the Student Council Association. She is a 2 year member of the Chesterfield County Youth Services Board. The board is made of 42 participants, and she serves as a liaison for programming for the county’s 60,000 students. Devin is a 3 year member of her school’s Programming Team and currently the Co-President. She is a Clover Hill Senior Advisory Council Member, and she was the sophomore class treasurer. Devin is also a member of the Beta Club and the Spanish Club. She has been involved in the organizations and execution of the Chesterfield County Outstanding Youth Awards. Devin was crowned the 2018 Homecoming Queen. She is a Clover Hill Freshman Mentor. Additionally Devin is working towards becoming an Inspire U.S. representative where the goal is to register younger voters by making the process accessible in schools.

A 4 year member of the Clover Hill Tennis Team, Devin has been the #1 seed every season. She was chosen to be a captain for both junior and senior year. Devin has been named the team Most Valuable Player as a freshman, sophomore and junior. She has been to the Conference Playoffs for Singles and Doubles every season so far. For Doubles, Devin and her partner have been to the Regional Tournament as well. Devin has also previously been a member of her school’s swimming and volleyball teams. Devin additionally has played tennis for the USTA Junior Tennis Team for 8 years. She is a Richmond Junior Tennis Circuit Girl’s Singles Champion and a two time finalist.

Devin earned her Girl Scout Silver Award by organizing a community book drive which totaled over 60 service hours. She has participated in numerous activities and service projects through the Girl Scouts including donation drives for animal shelters and making valentines for veterans. Devin served as the leader of “You’ve Been Ask’d” in Woodlake for 2018. The efforts raised over $4,000 for ASK Childhood Cancer Foundation. Though the National Honor Society she has participated in service projects including dog adoption fairs, Angel Tree donation drives, and assisting food banks. She is a volunteer tennis assistant at the Woodlake Swim and Racquet Club. Other organizations she has giver her time to include: CARITAS, Chesterfield County Fine Arts Festival, Mercy Mall, and Chesterfield County STEAMania.

Devin has won a dinner for two and is now in the running for the $10,000 scholarship.
