Lexus of Richmond’s 25th Leadership Award, Week 15 – Maggie Bostain

Lexus of Richmond’s 15th scholar athlete nominee for our Lexus Leadership Award is Maggie Bostain of the Collegiate School. With her current 4.16 GPA, Maggie has received straight A’s every grading period through high school. Maggie is the recipient of the Jefferson Book Award. this award recognizes students who demonstrate leadership and embrace creativity, innovation and the spirit of discovery.

Once outside the classroom, Maggie is an accomplished musician. She is a classically trained violinist, and Maggie has been playing the fiddle since she was seven years old. She has been the opening act for musicians such as the Gatlin Brothers and Lee Greenwood. Maggie has also been the house fiddle player for the Old Dominion Barn Dance.

Throughout her time at Collegiate, Maggie has been active in the athletic department. She is a 4 year Varsity Lacrosse player as a midfielder/draw. Maggie has collected numerous accolades, including: All LIS (’17, ’18, ’19), All League Player of the Year in 2019, All State 2nd Team (’17), All State 1st Team (’18, ’19), All Metro 2nd Team (’17), All Metro 1st Team (’19), and All Metro Player of the Year (’18). She was voted the team MVP in 2018 and 2019, and was named the captain for her senior season. In 2018 and ’19 Maggie was recognized on the US Lacrosse All American Team. She has been recognized by Inside Lacrosse Top Gun, for: Sophomores to Watch List, ranked 13th nationwide among all Juniors, ranked 19th nationwide among all Seniors. In 2018 Maggie was one of only 20 sophomores nationwide selected for the US Women’s U-19 National Team tryout. She was on the Under Armour All American Lacrosse Tournament DC Team in ’17, ’18 & ’19. As a four year member of the Varsity Field Hockey team, Maggie was the captain for her senior season. She is recognized as a 3x All LIS player. Maggie was All State 2nd Team (’17), All State 1st Team (’18), and All Metro (’18). In 2018 she was selected for the NFHCA High School National Academic Squad. Maggie is a 3 year Varsity Indoor Track & Field member. She is the All LIS Champion in the 500m for 2018. She is a 2x All State Honorable Mention. Maggie was voted to win the Award of Excellence and the MVP. Maggie will continue her lacrosse career as she has committed to play for the University of Virginia.

In her high school years, Maggie has given her time to several service projects in her community. As a member of the Earth Society she has helped with multiple river clean-ups. Maggie coaches and refereed for Geronimo Lacrosse, a girls youth team. She has been a Fairy Godmother, a program to assist with prom for girls from the Jackson Field Home. Additionally, Maggie has helped with fundraising for both the YMCA and Comfort Zone Camp.

Maggie has won a dinner for two and is now in the running for the $25,000 scholarship.
