Lexus of Richmond’s 4th scholar athlete for the Leadership Award Scholarship is Caroline Gill of Saint Gertrude High School. With a current 4.2 GPA, Caroline has received 1st Honors (highest academic level) as a freshman, sophomore and junior. She was additionally named the Freshman Valedictorian. Caroline earned the Highest Spanish Average of her class as a freshman, and the Highest History Average as both a freshman and sophomore. She also received the Highest Art Average and had a drawing selected as an honorary piece for exhibit to promote the school gallery. Additionally, Caroline is a member of the Honors Art Portfolio Program. As a junior she was the recipient of the West Point Leadership Award for demonstrating exemplary leadership, academics, service, and citizenship.
Throughout her time at Saint Gertrude, Caroline has been involved in numerous groups and activities. As a freshman she was a Class Representative in Student Council. Caroline was voted to be the Class President for 10th, 11th and now 12th grade. As both a junior and senior, Caroline is a Gator-Aid Coordinator which is an elite leadership club. In 10th and 11th grade she was a Model General Assembly Delegate. Caroline was invited to the Girl Power Tech Day, a conference for women in STEM. She is a two time Spirit Club President. As a part of Freshman Friends, Caroline and other upperclassmen mentor freshman throughout the first year of high school. Caroline has been the school sport photographer since sophomore year, and she was the Yearbook sports photographer as a junior. Additionally she has been playing the violin since 3rd grade.
As a four year Varsity Soccer team member and starter, Caroline was named a captain for both her junior and senior season. She was selected as the team MVP following 11th grade. Caroline has been named to the VISAA Second Team All-State and the LIS All League. Caroline is also a four time Varsity Basketball player and starter for Saint Gertrude. She was selected as a captain for both her 11th and 12th grade seasons. She was recognized with the Coaches Award for her dedication and positive attitude. As a junior she was named to the All Tournament Team in the Gator Classic. Outside of school, Caroline plays travel soccer for FC Richmond. She is a team starter and a three time captain. She has been selected to play on the Club Champions League All-Star Team to play in tournaments in Europe.
Giving back to her community is a priority to Caroline as she has over 200 service hours from her high school career. She has participated in a VCU Sports Medicine internship where she shadowed orthopedic doctors in their patient evaluations and watched surgeries. Caroline was chosen for the advisory committee for the first ever school wide service day, and she was a also a site coordinator at the Boys and Girls Club for Salvation Army. She is a tutor for Saint Gertrude’s elementary students after school. Caroline is a camp counselor for Saint Gertrude’s Basketball Camp and Art Camp as well as FC Richmond’s Soccer Camp.
Caroline has won a dinner for two and is now in the running for the $25,000 scholarship.
