Congratulations MacKenzie Kerr from Douglas Southall Freeman High School, our week 23 nominee for the Lexus of Richmond Pursuit of Perfection Leadership Award!
With A GPA of 4.986, and a combined SAT score of 1950, MacKenzie is an accomplished student. She is an AP Scholar with Distinction, a member of the National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta, and will be competing in the We the People nationals this year. She is active in her school as a member of the Key Club, Beta Club, Rebelettes, and Freeman Furs. MacKenzie has excelled and has received numerous accolades for performance on the track. For indoor track, she was All-Colonial District and Region in 2012, State, Regional and District Champion from 2013-2015, All-State 2013-14, and is the school record holder in 300, 500, 4×400, and 4×800. In outdoor track she was All-State, Region Champion and District Champion from 2012-2015, State Champion 2014-2015, and is the school record holder in 200, 400, 4×100, 4×400, and 4×800. In cross country she has been a Varsity letter winner for the past two years. She is also a multiple time District/Conference runner of the year for both indoor and outdoor track, and has been captain of her varsity indoor track, outdoor track and cross country teams since 2013. In the community, MacKenzie has dedicated her time to several programs, including the Key Club, Beta Club, Rebelettes, Little Feet Meet, Twin Hickory Elementary School, and Restore the Shore.
MacKenzie plans to run track for Duke University in the fall.
Mackenzie has won a dinner for two at Fleming’s Steakhouse and is now in the running for the $10,000 scholarship.
