With a 4.6 GPA, Chalin has earned much recognition academically, including induction into the National Honor Society and the Spanish National Honor Society. He is also a member of the National Beta Club and has received several awards, including the University of Virginia Jefferson Book Award. He has served in student government as a council member and president of his freshman class, was recognized as Mr. Freshman and Mr. Sophomore Class, a SODA team leader and POPP leader, and was a member of the Key Club. He is an accomplished athlete, excelling in lacrosse and football as the captain of both varsity teams, and has earned several accolades in each sport. Outside of school, he has been very active in the community beginning at an early age, having accumulated 250 hours of community service by age 15. He has participated in many community service programs, such as the Hanover Youth Service Council, BARK and Stop Hunger Now, to name a few, and was the recipient of the President’s Volunteer Gold Service Award. Chalin is also a talented musician as a Show Choir member and captain, a pianist, and a piano teacher in the Music to My Ears program.

Chalin has won a dinner for two at Fleming’s Steakhouse and is now in the running for the $10,000 scholarship.     I’ve coached a lot of outstanding young men in my 40 plus years coaching and CHALIN is second to none. He is what every parent wants in a child. I’m proud that he has been apart of my life the last four years. GOD BLESS!
