Lexus of Richmond Leadership Award Week 11 – James Armstrong

Lexus of Richmond’s week 11 nominee for the Leadership Award Scholarship is James Armstrong of St. Christopher’s School. He is currently ranked in the top 5 of his graduating class with a 4.5 GPA. James is an AP Scholar with Distinction and a National Merit Commended Scholar. He is also St. Christopher’s nominee for the Morehead Scholarship.

James has been on St. Chris’ varsity wrestling team throughout high school and is now team captain. In his junior season, he received an All State Honorable Mention. He is also a part of the  track and field team where he runs the 300 and 110 hurdles and the pole vault. An avid musician, James began playing piano at five years old. This past summer, he attended the Virginia Summer Residential Governor’s School for Visual and Performing Arts. In January 2017, he will be competing in the Piano Concerto for the Richmond Symphony.

Over the summer of 2015, James participated with his church for a mission trip to Haiti. While there, the group worked to build a home and assist with medical care. Earlier in 2016, St. Christopher’s put together a service trip to New Orleans, and James worked on this a well by helping rebuild and clean up areas affected by Hurricane Katrina. He has also been involved with other organizations such as Caritas and Virginia Home for Boys and Girls.
