Lexus of Richmond Leadership Award Week 5 – Tanner Hood


Tanner Hood from Saint Christopher’s School is Lexus of Richmond’s Leadership Award week 5 nominee. Ranked in the top 5 of his class, he has a current GPA of 4.5 and has received high honors every year in school. In 2015, he finished the National Latin Exam Summa Cum Laude, and he received an AP Scholar Award in 2016. At the end of junior year, Tanner was awarded the West Point Leadership Award after receiving the faculty vote.

After transferring to St. Christopher for sophomore year, Tanner is now in his third year on the varsity wrestling team. Currently the team captain, he is the 2016 VISAA State Champion 160lbs and the 2016 Prep League Wrestling Champion 160lbs. Also in 2016 he was chosen for the All-Prep, All State and 2nd Team All-Metro Wrestling teams. Other school organizations Tanner takes part in include chess and philosophy club. He was chosen for the English 10, a book analysis program, which is reserved for the top ten English students.

Volunteer work for Tanner includes: taking part in Operation Christmas Child and helping with Vacation Bible School for Parkway Baptist Church. He is also involved in Caritas Homeless Ministry and Feed My Starving Children. Other the past summer, he was a volunteer for Camp Jaycee for individuals with special needs. And previously, he spent time playing piano for the Brandermill Woods Retirement Community.

Tanner has won a dinner for two and is now in the running for the $10,000 scholarship.
