Westchester Shamrock 5K

Lexus of Richmond was honored to be a part of the Shamrock 5K at Westchester Commons on March 18th!

Lexus provided the pace car for the event, a beautiful 2017 Lexus GX 460 pictured above! The event consisted of performances from River Dancers and musicians. The 5k race kicked off at 9AM and in just under 16 minutes the 1st racer crossed the finish line. Shortly after the kids 1K got started. The Chick-Fil-A cows even made an appearance in their Shamrock 5K gear. The day was filled with food, giveaways, running, and great Irish spirit by all in attendance!

It was a wonderful morning enjoyed by all!

Lexus of Richmond Leadership Award Week 22 – Edward Anderson

Edward Anderson of St. Christopher’s School is Lexus of Richmond’s week 22 nominee for the Leadership Award Scholarship. With a 4.5 GPA, he is ranked in the top 10% of his graduating class. On the SAT’s, he scored a 1460 out of a possible 1600. He has received academic honors every semester of high school; and in his junior year, he was presented the Dartmouth Book Award which was chosen by the faculty.

While attending St. Chris, Edward founded the school’s mountain bike team. He qualified and competed in the cycling national championships. He was the winner of the National Interscholastic Mountain Bike Association, and in the same season, he went undefeated in all four of his races. Edward won multiple races including: the Dominion Riverrock Bike Race, Virginia High School Mountain Bike Series Forest Hill Park, and the Tidewater Marathon Race to name a few. In 2017 he was selected as a professional cyclist for Axeon Hagens Berman for a U23 international team. Edward is the co-head of the middle school mentoring program at St. Chris as well as a peer advisor for 9th grade students. He is a member of Students for Environmental Awareness, a Missionary Society Member, and a Senior Admissions Advisor. Edward also completed his Eagle Scout Project and earned a Bronze Palm.

Through his involvement with the Boy Scouts, Edward has volunteered at the Berkeley Plantation from 2013-2015. He volunteers for Caritas through Second Presbyterian Church and Reveille Methodist Church. Since 2014, Edward has been volunteering for rvaMORE. Through this organization, he has been working to build and maintain trails throughout the James River Park System.

Edward has won a dinner for two and is now in the running for the $10,000 scholarship. Lexus of Richmond Leadership Award Week 21 – Cameron Donaldson

Cameron Donaldson of James River High School, Center for Leadership and International Relations, is Lexus of Richmond’s week 21 nominee for the Leadership Award Scholarship. Ranked 5th in her class, she has a 4.69 GPA and is a member of the National Honor Society. She was a Junior Marshal in her junior year, and in 2016 Cameron received the West Point Leadership Award. She has collected awards for Excellence in Algebra 2, Excellence in Communications, and Excellence in AP Environmental Science, and AP Biology.

A multi-sport athlete, Cameron is a part of James River’s varsity lacrosse as the goalie and the team captain. In 2016 she was selected for the 1st Team All Conference. She is also on the school’s varsity basketball team. Outside of athletics and academics, she is an accomplished musician. Cameron has been involved in the All County Orchestra from 2014-2017 as a part of the 1st violin section. She is a co-founder and a co-captain of the Ethics Bowl Team at James River. The team even placed 4th at the second annual VA State Ethics Bowl. In 2016, she was selected for the Virginia Aerospace and Technology Scholars Summer Academy at NASA Langley Research Center. While partaking in this program, Cameron was selected to lead the group of 12 students in their design and presentation for a “Mission to Mars.” She then presented to the Administrator of NASA Langley and his team of engineers.

The James River Run-N-Fun Event was co-founded and carried out by Cameron. This event included a 5k race, live music, raffles and food; and it raised over $1600 for Change the World RVA. This organization provides homeless students with food, shelter, clothing, academic assistance and overall help and care. As a part of the James River Tri-M Honors Music Society, she co-founded the Crescendo Music Award. This is a scholarship program that provides private music lessons for promising middle school musicians.

Lexus of Richmond’s Leadership Award Week 20 – Ryan Buscaglia

Lexus of Richmond’s week 20 nominee for the Leadership Award is Ryan Buscaglia of Maggie Walker Governor’s School. With a 4.13 GPA and 3 perfect scores on AP Tests, he is a member of the National Honor Society and is the President of the Italian National Honor Society. Ryan is the a member of the Thomas Jefferson Historical Society and has received an Honorable Mention at the National Italian Exam in 2015 and 2016. In 2014, he took a bronze medal for the National Spanish Exam.

Throughout his high school career, Ryan has been a part of the cross country and track teams as well as indoor track and swimming. The cross country team is a 3 time AA East Region Champion, and in 2014 the team was the State Runner-Up and the State Champion in 2015. Ryan has been named to the cross country All-Conference team 4 times, the All-Region team 4 times, and the All-State 3 times. He was chosen 2 times for the Richmond Times Dispatch 1st Team All-Metro. In his indoor track career, Ryan was a State Champ for 4 different events, and he holds 2 school records. For outdoor track, he took 5 different State Championships and holds 2 school records. Ryan also competed at the New Balance Nationals 3 times for outdoor track. Outside of his athletic accomplishments, Ryan is the President of both the Italian Club and the Hackey Sack Club at Maggie Walker. He is the class spirit captain and a student ambassador. His other involvement includes the Model UN, Key Club, and We the People.

Ryan has worked with various organizations giving back to the community. He has been involved with Relay for Life for the American Cancer Society. Ryan has participated with MORE, a foundation which collects shoes and HOLA, a project with Oakgrove Bellemeade Elementary. He is even the youth group leader at Salisbury Presbyterian Church.

Lexus of Richmond’s Leadership Award Week 19 – Alyse Armentrout

Alyse Armentrout of Atlee High School is Lexus of Richmond’s week 19 nominee for our Leadership Award. Ranked in her class’ top 10; she has a 4.6 GPA and is a member of the National Honor Society, National BETA Club, and German National Honor Society. In 2016, Alyse was chosen for the Randolph College Book Award as an outstanding junior who excels in academics and is a leader outside the classroom. She received a silver award in 2016 for the National German Exam Silberkunde. Alyse has been recognized nationally for four years for her high achievements on the National German Exam.

Throughout high school, Alyse has played varsity basketball as a center and is currently the team captain. Earlier this year, she scored her 1,000th career point for Atlee. In 2016, she was named the VHSL Conference Player of the Year and Atlee High’s MVP. She earned a spot on the First-Team All Conference, First-Team All Region, and Second-Team All State. All four years of school, Alyse has been on the All-Academic Team. In Addition, Alyse is a 4-year varsity soccer player as a midfielder. Since sophomore year, Alyse has been her class secretary in the student government. She is involved in the BETA Club where she is the President and in the DECA Executive Officer Council in which she is the VP of Finance.

Outside of school and athletics, Alyse is overtly involved in the community. She and a fellow student organized and executed a tutoring program for 2nd graders at Cool Spring Elementary. The program allows for high school students to assist the children with reading, spelling and math. Alyse has been in involved in the Shady Grove TEAMeffort Mission; in 2015 the group went to New Orleans and in 2016 they traveled to Blue Knob, PA. She has worked with Little Big Feet Meet as an ambassador for the Special Olympics. Other organizations she has spent time with include: Stop Hunger Now, Ruriteens, BARK, Upward Sports, and Fox Holiday Socks.

Lexus of Richmond’s LUV Commercials

With the help of Jay Endicott at Fox Richmond and 288 Sports Group, Lexus of Richmond has produced 5 commercials for our LUV’s. Each tv spot is aimed at a different audience; young adults, moms, dads, and families. The final commercial is a combination of the previous four spots. All of the ads feature our employees and/or customers.

Lexus of Richmond Leadership Award Week 18 – Polina Bukina

Lexus of Richmond’s week 18 nominee for the Leadership Award is Polina Bukina of Mills E Godwin High School Specialty Center for Medical Sciences. With her 4.367 GPA, Polina is a member of the National Honor Society, Math Honor Society, BETA Society, and is the Spanish Honor Society President. She took home the Old Dominion Special Award for Non-Destructive Testing at the Metro Richmond Science Fair and 3rd place in the Medical and Health category at the Virginia Junior Academy of Science.

Polina has played on Godwin’s varsity volleyball team all throughout high school and was the co-captain in 11th and 12th grade. She was named to the 2nd Team All-Conference in her junior and senior seasons. 10th – 12th grade she was selected for the All Conference Academic Team. She was the teams defensive player of the year for her junior season, and the team won the conference championship the same year. She is a tutor at her school through the NHS, Godwin’s Key Club treasurer, and Godwin’s Medical Club Vice President. Polina has spent 155 hours as a lab research assist at the Godwin Research Lab where they are working on cancer cell research.

She has spent time volunteering for the Children’s Hospital of Richmond and is currently finalizing her EMT certification and volunteering for the Lakeside Rescue Squad. Polina has spent time as a volunteer for the Special Olympics through the Richmond Volleyball Club. She has volunteered at her local elementary school and has tutored other students at her high school.
